GDM seems to be running.

I installed Ubuntu, then put Kubuntu on top. I know default to Kubuntu.

I noticed a strange thing the other day. While trying to sort out my
xorg file, I had to stop and restart X.

sudo /etc/init.d/kdm stop

didn't do anything, but

sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop

worked fine. Is there any reason that gdm is running and kdm isn't?
Anything is should be worried about or changing?
