Should be as simple as:
Mounting: Push it in to the USB socket: Drive is mounted and displayed
in a Konqueror window.
Unmounting: Right click on the desktop icon, select "Safely remove":
Filesystem is synced and unmounted, then you can pull the drive out
again.
[Feisty seems to know the difference between a thumb drive and a CF card
in a USB holder, and shows different icons, as I recall Edgy doesn't it
just shows them both as USB drives]
