Ok, on http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:Feisty they show you how to
install Automatix2.
Right below it is this warning:
Automatix2 is a proprietary script that tries to install some
software, and is known to fail and break systems. The Ubuntu community
WILL NOT provide support for it, and we strongly discourage its use.
Problems caused by Automatix are often hard to track and solve, and it
may result in having to reinstall your entire Ubuntu system.
However, it has been known to work flawlessly if you install it right
after a fresh install of Ubuntu; with no Adept or Synaptic package
update, or any other software installed. The apt-get method can be
less prone to mishaps.
Be aware that package versions change; check and be certain that you
are getting the latest package here.
So it's up to you. Using it is not recommended. But they DO recognize
it as an easy way to get things working quickly without having to
spend time copying and pasting command lines from the web pages.
