With kget you can download the PDFs.  I don't see why you would need to 
download a file using a PDF program, and you can search in kpdf.  I do so all 
the time.

I don't call commercial software filth, I call proprietary software filth.  
Either way, acroread contains adware, runs poorly, and is only available in a 
32-bit form.  It's a terrible program and should be avoided.
