Hi Richard,

I have re-enabled my sound chip, checked the volume control and the mixer.
KMixer shows under Output that each item is on. There is a green button on
the top of each item in Input and in Switches it seems to deal with MIC
settings. Anyway, when I click on Play in Audacity I still get:
Error while opening sound device. Please check the output settings and the
project sample rate.
Even when I set the sample Format at 16 and rate at 8000Hz I get the same
error message. As I said all my other sound programs work fine. I must be
doing something wrong. Audacity was re-installed after my little problem
with KDE desktop yesterday so that shouldn't be a problem.
