having problems with automount dapper

check dmesg for errors? i had the same problem, happened in windows as
well..turns out i had a bad cable. i swapped the cable...still had the same
problem...turns out that this cd/dvd rom was the real problem....so make
sure all that works first. i ended up replacing mine and everything works
fine now.
