How to modify "System places" menu

I actually get a feeling of cold panic whenever I have to navigate out 
of /home - the tree is so complex and so seemingly random.

I just looked at my console and my grep did find it, but it would have taken a 
while to locate it in all the results, I used:
find /usr -iname "*" -exec grep -Hi "remote places" {} \;    
:)
