Can not connect to Kubuntu machine

just to be sure, but did you check that now you have ssh client an 
server installed in the new machine?
check it out by doing

dpkg -l |grep ssh

and if is not there......you know:
sudo apt-get install openssh-client openssh-server

hope is just that.......
