Can not connect to Kubuntu machine

I just installed Kubuntu on a machine that replaced my old Kubuntu machine.

I used to be able to connect over ssh, but my connections are refused by 
this new install.  I can ping the machine, so I know it's there, I have 
the correct ports forwarded on my router. 

Is there some firewall business in 6.0.6 that I somehow have running now 
that I didn't on my previous machine, updated from Hoary to Dapper?
