Thanks for that - I certainly don't take it as a stab. I don't know enough
about what automatix _does_ to help someone get out of the problems it's
caused - I only know that those who _do_ know continually advise against
using Automatix on Ubuntu. If automatix had been around (or at least if
I'd known about it) when I first installed Ubuntu, I might have been
tempted to use it too. Instead, I had to figure out from the archives
where to get the things I wanted that aren't part of Ubuntu.
fwiw, I really wish Ubuntu would _ask_ at install time about using
Universe/Multiverse, since I believe part of what leads people to using
Automatix is that they don't have even basic parts of what I'd consider a
usable system without Universe.
