Make apps invisble in the desktop pager

I'm using 6.10, so adjust accordingly.

RIght click kate's titlebar > Advanced > Special Application Settings.
Go to the "Preferences" tab and check "Skip Pager". In the dropdown select
"Force".
Check the checkbox to the right of this box. Hit OK.
