How to distribute Partitions across multiple HD?

Get fast drives, not bigger than 250gig. (I hear bad things about 500 and up 
drives)
Put the fast drives where you want the apps to run from. Blender pretty much 
runs from a folder. 

I would think that lots of fast RAM would make more of a difference for you.

Perhaps look into RAID, but I have never had the opportunity.

Would a small, fast separate drive be a plus for swap? I dunno.
