I have three gmail accounts and sometimes, but really once in a while, they 
hang a bit. Most of the time I have no problems.

I do agree that a timeout setting is missing. It might be needed on a slow 
connection.

I guess there must be tons. The one I know is part of the "Aero All In One" 
Karamba theme. It checks three accounts, but doesn't have timeouts nor sits 
in the taskbar.
