Well there should be a file "/var/log/Xorg.0.log" and "/var/log/Xorg.0.log.old" with usable output.
Though it seems fairly clear to me it's your mouse that's messing you up.

If you've got another networked PC try and gain access to the "frozen" box (ssh or such) as I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't frozen but just that keyboard and mouse are "lost".
