Startiing gtk programs generates error messages

When opening a program created by 'glade' or non-glade tutorial I get the 
following on the executing console:

gie at charon:~/Projects/project1/src$ ./project1
X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 169
  Major opcode:  147
  Minor opcode:  3
  Resource id:  0x0
Failed to open device
X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 169
  Major opcode:  147
  Minor opcode:  3
  Resource id:  0x0
Failed to open device

The program seems to operate in spite of these error messages.
