Occasionnaly on a list everyone gets fed up by some folks who just wants us to
do their homework and provides no effort of their own, sometimes to the point
of appartently not even taking into account the answers they are given. Also
they get impatient, treating the list as if it were a helpdesk and they have
a right to get their answers. It is a relief to the list when those folk
finally leave it, crying and complaining that we were all very rude.

Billie is clearly not one of them.

How much effort would you credit someone who tried to accomplish something
that seems easy to you?

How much effort should one make before he is allowed to ask for help?

I second Billie in that the terminology of man doesn't always make much sense
to me.

Internet searches are a real chore. Even when you are able to pick good key
words for the search you will get the very man page you want explanations
about, unanswered questions, unrelated answers or answers pertaining to a
different setting/platform/distro.

What is the use of this list if we are not allowed to ask anything on the
ground that we can find all the info in (R)TFM, in man, archives and so on?
