Yes you are right , upgrades never worked for me also and I really try
to install my soft with adept only , but that's all right because I like
clean installation anyway.

Its exactly my conclusion. I have 6.06 LTS version at work and love it,
I plan to change it when the next LTS will be out. But sometimes, having
the last kunbutu installed is great for many reasons: latest program
like open office , better support materials for my laptops. video card
multimedia alway easier to install , scanner support, etc etc ....

Yep

Thanks guys for ... alleviating my "troll" tag :-P , It all right
thought , people will go over it including myself !!!
At least, I had the chance to learn what troll means ;-)
I may have "trolled" a little bit in addition to share my experience and
see if people were experiencing the same kind of problems I had
installing gutsy. I had no problem installing 7.04 and 6.06 in the past
on the same computer.
I am a heavy linux user , Kubuntu in my only tool for working. I
installed it on every single PC I have (6) and 2 laptops, I do
everything with linux programing with kdevelop, heavily used of
openoffice ( my seminar are done with oo presentation with linux), video
editing with kino , gimp, wengophone, work from home using NX
nomachine, EVERYTHING !!!. I converted to kubuntu my friends , my
parents , even my 3 year old daughter got her edubuntu.
Just because we are not part of the Linux developers team does not means
that we can't share our experience and frustration. Linux is community
based for people to people. I am not the one who advertised and claimed
that nowadays , Linux in general and Kubuntu in particular are as easy
(if not easier) to install than window$. Let's face it , X server may
crash , openoffice crash if heavily used , material configuration may
not be easy to setup for scanner , wireless , webcam, ... just the fact
of selecting a new screen resolution could be a pain in the past ....
Beginners may lost their envy to try free software when the install
does not run flawlessly , the experiences Linux users like me may loose
their cool when you spend hours googling any info to write scripts to
make your materials working and start over again when you upgrade Linux.
Sure its my choice to install Linux and I love it because it is the most
reliable OS (once every thing works). However it is not perfect and one
should not be offended if some users complained about it and want to
share their experiences with others. Anyway if you red my broken English
that far, here is my users kubuntu content question, so I won't be
treated (too much) as a "troller" ;-)
Why the newest Openoffice 2.3 can't be update in 6.06 using adept ? , I
can install it by hand of course , but it would be much more convenient
using adept ? what' s the Ubuntu policy when it comes to decided which
packages to update or not. it would be nice to have those latest
softwares installed during the LTS life span.
