Blacklist the kernel module gspca (which is used for for the camera) and 
unload the module. In a terminal (e.g. konsole) enter these commands:

sudo sh -c "echo 'blacklist gspca' >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-cam"
sudo rmmod gspca
