weird keyboard problem

On Kubuntu 7.04:
One user suddenly has a very strange problem with the keyboard: as soon 
as X is running the keyboard keys need to be held down for maybe 3 
seconds before the "pressing" is registered and anything happens.

Of course this makes it impossible for her to work normal. Where in 
heaven's name can I find some setting for this? Should also say that 
everything works fine if I boot without X running.
