My intent is to reinstall Dapper. For some reason the last upgrade (to
dapper) broke hal, and I have only been able to get it to work
intermittently. I've tried for hours to diagnose and fix it, but no luck.
When it does daemonize, the reason is as much a mystery as when it won't.
