% sudo apt-get update
% sudo apt-get upgrade
That should update the repos, grab the headers for the updates, and the
act accordingly, as far as I understand.
If it doesn´t succeed in installing the updates to adept, at the very
least, it should give some kind of
output/error msg(s) that you could post here that would be helpful for
an expert to diagnose the issue.
Of course, that expert won´t be me.
I´m not an expert, in all truth, which, is why I am answering you, because,
sometimes another non-expert, but at least one with some experience with
the OS, can be helpful.
I feel your frustration, and would like to see you get through this.
Having used Linux for 7 years now, I can say that it is well worth the
initial aggravation of having to learn to
jump through a few new hoops. I also know how dumbfounding a lot of it
can be at first, too.
Some of it is a lot simpler than it looks, once you get used to it, and
some of it is
far more complex than I could have imagined, but, all the same, as I
said, I have
now successfully used Linux for 7 years, and my entire business and the
livelihood of my family
are now dependent on the work I do on this here Linux box.
I wouldn´t entrust that to a Windows box, that´s for sure.
good luck
tony
