Thanks,
Found that just after I sent the other message, changed it to 24 and
restarted. But I still can't get it. the assARGBGLXVisuals don't show an
error but I can't see in the log where they load either. Here is the pertinet

any more ideas?
When I just click on beryl-manager in kde I get the icon in teh bottom left
but a message comes up and says the composite manager crashed twice.
When I try beryl-manager in a konsole it is the same.
When I try beryl only in konsole I get the konsole window without any
decorations, and can't enter any text, the konsole seems inactive.
The beryl then works somewhat but doesn't really work right. Not usable.
