konqueror error while loading could not connect to host

I'm just getting on line for the first day with feisty and am having
difficulty with konqueror not wanting to browse the web.  It just
gives the message "An error occurred while loading http://www.kde.org:
 Could not connect to host http://www.kde.org".

Of course, all the other web interactive programs work fine, so I know
it's not a DNS or network config or firewall problem.  Also, I checked
the obvious that konqueror's proxy config is set to direct connection
to the internet.

Anyone else having this problem or have any ideas?
