Just to note - I am assuming 'noacpi' is mistaken. For all I know it's 
legit... IANAE.

I have to use noapic on my AMD 64x2 CPU to boot 32-bit Kubuntu. It's something 
to do with a PIC chip that does asynchronous interrupts -- can't remember 
now.
