Um.  You can check this by running

    xdpyinfo|grep depth

from an xterm/Konsole, and you should see something like this:

  depth of root window:    24 planes
    depth:    24 planes
    depth:    24 planes
    depth:    24 planes
    depth:    24 planes
    depth:    24 planes
    depth:    24 planes
    depth:    24 planes
    depth:    24 planes
