Codec files

Hi!
By default, non-free codecs (such as MP3, DVD and such) are not included in
_Ubuntu. They have to installed by hand (either by installing the packages
by hand, as they are present in the repositories, or by using a tool like
EasyUbuntu or Automatix ...). I can't tell you right now, which packages are
needed, as I used Automatix myself, but I also remember a discussion on this
list, that Automatix and such should not be used as they mess up the apt
database (IIRC). Looking at my automatix logs, I see, that it did install a
whole lot... but I guess that was intended ...
