how to change one-click behaviour in konqueror

I always use tree view, and I choose this once, then it remembers my
setting, so after closing konquerer, it re opens as tree view on
subsequent occasions. Is this what you mean?

Also, although I have not yet had a go at editing it myself, the
hidden files (view hidden files) include such as
/home/username/.kde/share/config/konquerorrc
which contains my usual choice of tree view
