Adding Proprietary stuff from Adept

Have you enabled all of your repos such as multiverse, universe and those
things ?  Opera has its own repo that I get the latest packages from.

deb http://deb.opera.com/opera etch non-free

Add that to your /etc/apt/sources.list file then do sudo apt-get update &&
sudo apt-get install opera from a terminal and you should get Opera.

Hopefully that should get you going.  I don't use any GUI package managers
as I find the package manager from CLI just simply works best.
