Installing .deb files

Hi! On Kubuntu 6.06, is there a half-descent way to install a .deb file? 
The menu from konqueror is kinda sad in that it doesn't try to use 
apt-get (or anything else) to resolve dependencies, just says they 
aren't there. Fedora has a simple tool that uses yum (basically apt for 
rpm) to download the missing packages. Does Kubuntu have something like 
that, or will they ever? Thanks!
