./configure problems (was: Installing X-development package)

Have you tried run ldconfig? After installing lib file, you need run
ldconfig to rebuild /etc/ld.so.cache. This file contain the ordered list of
libraries. The /etc/ld.so.conf
contain the PATH of libraries.
