Yes, Thunderbird works, but for business use I really prefer Kmail.  When 
S/MIME was optional with the relevant customer, I used Thunderbird to read 
the occasional S/MIME encrypted or opaquely signed e-mail I would get.  
Unfortunately, the customer in question is going to use it 100% starting 1 
June and so that won't work any longer.
