[Dapper - 686 Kernel] Laptop not shutting down

Hi,

Since I installed kernel 2.6.15-22-686 instead of 2.6.15-21-686, my 
laptop does neither shuts down nor restarts. More over, I do not see 
Kubuntu shutting down splash...

laptop : ThinkPad T42.
