I read your blog about nano. Did you also know, that nano is able to
open more then one file at once?  ;)

have a look /etc/nanorc

## Allow multiple file buffers (inserting a file will put it into a
## separate buffer).  You must have configured with --enable-multibuffer
## for this to work.
##
set multibuffer

e.g try:
nano file1 file2

then hit inside nano:
M-<             (alternativly M-,)
M->             (alternativly M-.)

M stand for the Meta key (which is mostly, but not allways ALT)
