Presumably not.  If you ask for automatic partitioning on the initial
install, does Ubuntu create a /home?  I remember, years back, asking for
advice on partitioning, and nobody said "put /home on it's own partition to
make upgrading easier in future".  I did notice the last time I installed
Ubuntu that having my /home separate was very convenient.
