I can't believe I missed that. I'm digging all over the place and it's

Maybe they could delete apt-get and stick _another_ browser in there?
Really, I agree that make should be part of the base system.

I plan on keeping [k]ubuntu around even if I do make the leap to
Gentoo. I know that I need a stable system and a system that the wife
can administer if I'm not around. And I'll need a way to get online
when I get stuck with Gentoo! I've very little Linux experience and
depend on a good deal of hand-holding (but I hope that Gentoo will
help make me a little more independant)
