Hi Frode,

I tried your suggested 'sudo fuser -vki /var/lib/dpkg/lock' but I fail to
see were it asks if I want to kill the process locking the dpkg database.
Am I missing something? I love my kubuntu but this little problem is
driving me nuts.

That means nothing is locking the lock-file.

This is the output i get when i have adept running, and execute the command:

[light%] sudo fuser -vki /var/lib/dpkg/lock

                     USER PID ACCESS COMMAND
/var/lib/dpkg/lock: root 4698 F.... adept

Kill process 4698 ? (y/N)

When I close adept, and run the same command, I get no output at all. Which
means nothing is using the lockfile.
