trying to add KDE to installed ubuntu

Russ,

Sounds like you need to enable your universe and multiverse repositories.
Check:

/ect/apt/sources.list

and uncomment the universe and multiverse repositories. then run:

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop
