Monitor Blank

I may be in the wrong list. If I am please forgive me and point me in the 
right direction. I have KDE 3.5 and Kubuntu. About 2 times a day my Monitor 
will go blank and I have to turn the monitor off and then on. At that time 
all is well. Would that be a Video card problem or a Monitor problem? I have 
a "Compaq" deskpro and the card may be built in. I am on Social Security and 
looking for the least expensive way to repair this. Thank you..
