booting ..

HI,

I am currently running SuSE 9.1 but I'm on my way to change to kubuntu as the
10.0 seems to be ~~~

Well I have a little firewall: Via Epia C3 without harddisk, but with a 2GB
SanDisk-compact-flash-card and its IDE connector and it has a boot-problem
and so far nobody (SuSE did not answer) could give me any hint or advice what
it might be.

My 'harddrive' (SanDisk) is correctly identified! And there is nothingelse but
this harddrive, from where everything has to be loaded.

Well first time after boot it writes 'endlessly' to the screen:
  <6> hda: hda1 hda2
  <6> hda: hda1 hda2
  <6> hda: hda1 hda2
  <6> hda: hda1 hda2
  <6> hda: hda1 hda2
  <6> hda: hda1 hda2
until I reboot now theses lines appear again durin th second boot but not so
often until it goes on. But when it up this system is stable!!

I tried to disable DMA, but this config-file is read later within the
boot-sequence.

Does anybody know what request, the writes this line to the screen is
repteated again and again and what makes it not to continue? Does anybody has
a hint what to do where so that it is not trapped there ??

Could it be the the dma (direct memory access) is compiled into the kernel and
this is the problem? Can this be switched off without building a new kernel
(boot-option)? Why is the 'behaviour' the first time 'strict' (no
continuation or at least many more lines), but the second time 'lazy' (= boot
continues after only some lines)?

Thanks in advance,
Carl

This is what I get from kernel.log ..
