how to reinstall KDE in Kubuntu 6.06 LTS?

Hello!

My problem is, that KDE 3.5.5 is installed onto Kubuntu 6.06 LTS. But as
mr. Riddell says, KDE 3.5.5 is not meant for Kubuntu 6.06 even here is
tutorial for that - http://kubuntu.org/announcements/kde-355.php
This is very strange, that this webpage suggests to install KDE 3.5.5
into Kubuntu 6.06 LTS if it causes so much problems... It causes also a
lot of problems to me - I installed several Kubuntu 6.06 LTS machines
with KDE 3.5.5 and now people have a lot of problems e.g. printing from
QT-based applications... So the following problem is in multiple
machines and therefore quite critical.

I'm confused about the question - how to install KDE 3.5.4 if KDE 3.5.5
is already installed in Kubuntu 6.06 LTS ???

I found note, that if you want to install KDE into Ubuntu, then just type:

sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop

So:

* I changed kde-stable to the kde-354  in /etc/apt/sources.list

* sudo apt-get update

* sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop --reinstall

It reinstalled me version 0.86 again

Result - nothing :( Still I have KDE 3.5.5, which have several errors.
The biggest problem - it does not do shut down - very often system just
hangs... Also CUPS does not work on QT-based programs and USB memory
sticks does not mount in Konqueror but pmount /dev/sda1 works at command
line.

Well, mr. Riddell explained me those things and now is perhaps
possibility to fix them.

Actually I did not receive any update to HAL as mr. Riddell promised. I
still have the mount problem in Konqueror. Hopefully KDE 3.5.4 will fix
those problems...

I checked about kubuntu-desktop:

sudo apt-cache show kubuntu-desktop

Shall I reinstall all of them? I mean, shall I write:

sudo apt-get install
{all_the_package_mentioned_above_separated_by_spaces} --reinstall

This is my main question.

Thank you in advance for answers,
Edmund Laugasson
