Mounting USB memory devices

The #1 thing to do when checking out whats going on when USB stuff is not 
seeming to do what they are supposed to do is to 
run "tail -f /var/log/messages" then try connecting the USB device. Tell us 
what happens, and we can try to help you out. For me the device immediately 
is automounted.
