Thats exactly what I did as I didn't want to put up
with hangs or lockups...

But other than these slight problems to start with, I
find kubuntu is great and I use to use mandriva. bye
bye mandriva. 
But I like how kubuntu has worked it so a user doesn't
have to deal with lots of crappy files and lets it run
much faster.
