avidemux + subtitles

Hello there.

I compiled an avidemux deb package for breezy, version 2.2.0 svn rev
1928, with pretty much everything on it (mad, a52, xvid, x264, freetype,
esd, arts, vorbis, faac, faad).

I am trying to convert an mp4 file to vcd and permanently add subtitles,
using an srt file.

The thing is, everything seems to go fine; I get an mpeg file as output,
then i burn it on cd with k3b. When I insert the disk in the pc, it
plays in kaffeine as a vcd, just fine (sound, subtitles, etc). When I
insert it in the living room dvd player, I get video and subtitles, but
no sound whatsoever.

Any hints as to what I should be looking into?
