Kontact crashes, burns, & implodes

Not sure if this is a major bug & I should report it as such, so I
thought I'd see if anyone else had the same issue.

I'm running KDE 3.5.1 on Breezy on a notebook (Toshiba Satellite A45) &
a desktop (Dell Dimension), & I had the identical problem on both
machines, so read on:

On Saturday, I upgraded my Koffice, with the new libraries & the new
version of Krita. Suddenly after that, all the emails in the IMAP
account I was using Kmail/Kontact to check began to replicate themselves
10, 20, 30 times. I'd delete them & another 20, 30 instances would show
up. It was starting to fill up my mailbox & was out of control. I went
through some suggestions with the helpdesk on campus, but finally began
using Thunderbird & the problem has gone away. In the meantime, Kontact
started to crash every time I attempted to start it -- it has become
completely unusable. I have to manually kill the process from a command
prompt.

Thunderbird + Mozilla Calendar rock, but I still miss Kontact, which I
loved. Has anyone else seen the problem, & do we report it as a bug?

Thanks,
Wafa.

"One of the many major problems with governing people is that
of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get
people to let them do it to them.
To summarize: it is a well-known fact that those people who
must want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited
to do it.
To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting
themselves made President should on no account be allowed to
do the job."
