MPlayer and .pls files

I don't know about Mplayer, but I play internet radio streams (.pls 
files) all the time with Amarok.  To play mp3 streams you will need to 
have some packages installed.  Go to the restricted formats page in the 
Ubuntu wiki, it has a good how to.

    There is also a great program called streamtuner for finding streams 
to play.
