The problem with this is the unnecessary overhead.  When in gnome, you
have to load the gtk libraries just for the interface, and when you
launch a KDE app, you load the qt libraries.  Sometimes you end up
launching much more, like DCOP and other parts of KDE *on top of gnome
and gtk*.

It works the same way in reverse, i.e. running gnome apps under KDE. 
Some gtk apps are not full gnome, though, like easyTAG and jpilot.

That is a matter of personal taste and preference.

Maybe its a breezy thing.  I don't see much stability difference in
hoary, (or for that matter in Red Hat).  As with hoary, I am waiting a
couple of months for the big bugs to get ironed out before switching to
breezy.
