And note, he didn't even have to ask you _what_ release you were using (or 
what command you really issued).

Please don't use dist-upgrade indiscriminately.  Breezy isn't supposed to be 
stable, and there will always be times like this that things will break with 
a dist-upgrade.  I do "aptitude update; aptitude --download-only 
dist-upgrade", daily (because I have a fast pipe) in a cron job.  Then later 
I'll do "aptitude dist-upgrade" and if it tells me it wants to remove 
anything that looks important, I cancel and do an upgrade, instead.  Upgrade 
will update anything that can be safely done without removing anything else 
or installing anything new.  If the dist-upgrade showed new packages would be 
installed, I might try installing them, too, but only if I have too much time 
on my hands.
