Upgrade changes config & no USB stick any more

Oh, please.  Debian is notorious for b0rking your desktop settings when you do 
a KDE upgrade.  It happened when I upgraded from KDE 1 to KDE 2.  It happened 
when I upgraded from KDE 2 to KDE 3.  It happened when I upgraded from KDE 
3.1 to KDE 3.2.  Upgrading from 3.3 (sid) to 3.4 (hoary) was easy (though 
I'll admit, I don't have a clue if USB sticks worked after that, because I 
didn't have any USB storage devices at the time).
