Why should he have to? Why do the packages for Debian and Ubuntu in
particular leave these out? It causes me no end of grief to try to upgrade
any debian box because the "recommended" drivers, which happen to be the ONLY
ones that work with Epson Printers, are not included with the package that
explicitly bears there name! In the effort to move to some other gutenprint
or whatever style of printing they have decided to kill off Epson printing.
I have a Stylus Color 740 which prints perfectly in SuSE, but not at all with
Debian (without major surgery).
Forgive my rant, but maybe someone who knows how could fix this horrible mess,
and include the foomatic "recommended" printer definitions back in the
package that bears its name, and let the users decide which works better for
them!
