You can put (links to) the programs you want to start at KDE startup in 
~/.kde/Autostart (also reachable via Konqueror's "Go" menu).

As to the links to your home directory, you can probably just right 
click, "create new" -> "link to location" and use /home/username.

How to add trash:// on your desktop, I don't know. (It's probably not 
just adding a link, because it would be nice to have the icon changing 
when the trash is empty or something's in there, so I'm also interested 
in how to accomplish that.
